For this custom pool, there were only two major features: very large and no straight lines. Every part of this structure is curved in some way. The top picture displays the bottom re-enforcement in place priot to shooting the Shotcrete. The bottom starts out as a flat surface right up to the vertical sides. The finished floor as seen in the lower picture shows the smooth transition from bottom to walls in such a manner that the actual flat area is much smaller than the actual bottom area. One of the capabilities of Shotcrete is the ability to "fill in" areas of transition. Sometime all you need is a floor and a wall. Other times you may require a smoother change from horizontal to vertical.

Once again the support rebar is shown for both the shallow and deep end, with the drop off dividing the two shown in the center of the top picture. You can even see the light fixture which will shine into the deep end from the drop off.

With the Shotcrete portion of the pool finished, it is easy enough to see all the curves of both the sides and the bottom, provided easily and promptly by a professional Shotcrete application.

As a very nice added touch , the customer requested an adjoining spa. This spa matches the granduer of the pool, with the first noticable feature being the size. The "normal" size workers actually look small in the spa. Another feature the occupants will have is a tremendous view due to the placement well above the pool. The wall of the pool steps up to the level of the spa, and connect to the side facing the pool. In this plan, the water is cycled through the spa into the main pool area over the edge of the spa in a waterfall effect, cascading down between four and five feet.
